Dominant colours

Three images from my homeworld, dominant colours of the sky...

Tonight's sunset from my window.

Last night's crimson over Saint Ninian's Isle...

...In pink & blue through the fisheye.

flamingo sky

you know time’s right;
reach for feathers after sunset.

out on that ridge,
you stop and sense on your mountain.

its sleek pinkness in azure sky,
untouched, unscarred by spring thunder,

it glides and slides above your head,
suave, elusive in silent dusk like a love sign,

in migration between two worlds,
gardens or gates – gallant wader so elegant,

symbiosis fledged in single glance;

cloud en trompe l’oeil,
flamingo sky on camera.

  2. what beautiful skies, gorgeous colours! Your poem is beautiful too, I love flamingoes and the comparison you draw is so fitting. I've not commented as much recently as I'd like to have done as your blog (or Blogger itself) wasn't letting me comment.

  3. Hiver que tu es long cette année
    Tu m’as enlevé un être proche
    Tu as glacé mon corps

  5. Thank you very kindly, Juliet :)
    Oh, I love flamingos too and usually photograph them in Camargue in that Rhone Delta when I fly back to that part of the world :)
    Those pink skies always remind me of them, somehow.

    Beautifullly poignant verse, my dear friend.
    Have heard about Jean Ferrat. He remains a great poet in my heart :))

  8. Hi Joao,
    Yes, to be able to enjoy the magic of the "big sky" outwith a city is a priviledge, although urban skylines are/can be very photogenic too :). I think it all depends how aesthetic/romantic rooftops can be ;))
